In the performance TO MAINTAIN sixteen performers form an organism, a machine. The aim is to produce the essence of the popular institutions, which is obtained through a washing process as a distillate. The cleaning and maintenance is a movement of bodies, sound and material, with which the interior and exterior spaces can be ritually flushed and institutions can be freed from old dust.
In the cyclical structure of four phases, the performers devote themselves to the preparation, reconditioning, work and regeneration of a cleaning process. The scent of the institution is then wrung out of the dripping clothes. The bottled essence can then be purchased by the audience.
