Fallsucht

AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL PERFORMANCE PREMIERE VENUE |
STAGE AND COSTUME Tom Schellmann |
In the autobiographical performance FALLSUCHT, Lara Scherpinski tells of an illness surrounded by the aura of mys-tery: epilepsy. Sacred, prophetic, sinful, unruly, possessed by demons. The absolute loss of control in thinking, feeling and experiencing. A primal human fear, materialized in a disease that threatens peace. It is this uncontrollable that our society seeks to cope with again and again by pushing it away, putting it into DIN fits or even disqualifying it as a way of life.
In Fallsucht, Lara examines her body as an archive of family and cultural history, a repository of myths and social debates about normality and otherness. In the form of rituals and self-experiments that take on increasingly bizarre features, she explores her otherness and the social dynamics that create this otherness.
